Dr Nadeesh de Silva is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Legal Studies, The Open University of Sri Lanka. He was also the former head of the Department of Legal Studies. He obtained his PhD in International Relations from the the International University of Japan, Niigata, Japan, 2024. He earned his Master’s degree in Business Law at Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, India, 2015. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (Hons). Faculty of Law at the University of Colombo, 2010. Dr Nadeesh’s professional qualifications include Attorneys-At-Law at Sri Lanka Law College (2011) and the Certificate in Shipping Law and Practices, Institute for the Development of Commercial Law and Practice (2009). As a part of his professional development he has participated as the Head Delegate for India in the model World Trade Organization - Geneva- Switzerland organized by the University of St. Gallen -2019 and as the Head Delegate for Russia in the model World Trade Organization - Geneva- Switzerland organized by the University of St. Gallen -2020.
Among various awards and scholarships, Dr Nadeesh has received the ) Scholarship for the Doctoral Study (2018) from the National Centre for Advanced Studies in Humanities & Social Sciences (NCAS), Sri Lanka; Nayakama Scholarship Award of International University of Japan (2018), Japan; Indian Council for Cultural Relations Scholarship (ICCR) (2017), India and the UGC Merit Award 2006, Sri Lanka. His positions and memberships of professional bodies include becoming the Convener of the National Legal Vice President of the Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) (2022-2023), Media Spokesperson of the Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) (2022-2023), Vice President of the Open University Teachers' Associations (OUTA) (2021-2022) and the Representative of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Open University Teachers’ Association (OUTA) (2022-2023).
